Fire departments & outreach

Fernley connects the learning to the people who serve.

Bring SmartSlaps into approved school visits, station tours, or community education already led by your department. The SmartSlap keeps a child's connection with that learning after the event.

Your Guardian connection

Fernley the Fire Dog represents the existing fire-safety and preparedness pathway. Distribution is coordinated through the appropriate program or partner.

Meet Fernley

How to start

1

Coordinate with the department

A department representative confirms the outreach setting, adult lead, desired quantities, and Guardian availability. Follow the department's normal approvals.

2

Use approved instruction

The qualified presenter delivers the department's reviewed educational content. SmartSlaps supports that interaction; it does not replace professional safety instruction.

3

Connect the family

Explain Fernley's role and direct parents or caregivers to the SmartSlaps instructions. Keep participation voluntary and appropriate to the setting.

Try one simple activity

After an approved outreach session, invite children to explain one thing they learned from the presenter about the role of firefighters or community preparedness.

Requesting SmartSlaps

Request consolidated quantities for the planned activity. Do not send children's names or imply every station already participates.

What to expect

We send the SmartSlaps. Parents, educators, and community partners access the instructions and program resources online. Requests are reviewed and fulfilled as funding and inventory allow.

Physical delivery includes the confirmed SmartSlaps and a brief printed guide to the online instructions. Decorative boxes, individual wrapping, laminated guides, and a full printed packet are not the standard delivery.

No emergency procedures or technical safety instructions are supplied by this onboarding page. Those materials require qualified review before publication.

The purpose stays the same

Learning, communication, responsibility, and community connection come first. The envelope QR opens instructions. Existing SmartSlap codes keep their established learning or support destinations.
